Tape Measure
Measure all walls, openings, windows and ceiling heights. Record everything in inches.
Paper + Pencil
Sketch the basic shape of your room. Your drawing doesn't need to be perfect or to scale.
Your Phone
Take clear photos facing each wall plus a few wider photos showing the entire room.
How to measure your space.
Work your way around the room in one direction. Label each wall on your sketch as you go.
Draw your room
Sketch the basic shape of the room as if you're looking down from above. Label each wall A, B, C, D and so on.
Measure every wall
Measure from corner to corner and write the overall length beside the corresponding wall on your sketch.
Mark doors & windows
Record the width of every opening and its distance from the nearest wall or corner. Note which way doors swing.
Measure vertically
Record your floor-to-ceiling height, window sill height and the dimensions of any soffits, beams or bulkheads.
Locate utilities
Mark plumbing, gas lines, vents, electrical panels and anything else that cannot be moved.
Add appliances
Record appliance widths and model numbers when available. Upload specification sheets with your questionnaire if you have them.
Don't forget the photos.
Photos help us understand details that measurements alone can't show. Wider photos are usually more helpful than close-ups.
